Alright... work was cancelled again tonight! Yay!! Though it probably would have been fine to get there. But... I'm not arguing.
That meant that I had some time. It was still icy enough at the top of the driveway that I was a little hesitant to try to get the truck and trailer out. And then Ashland Farm was closed, so... I figured I wouldn't risk it. So I opted to clean my tack. And then I couldn't stand it. I had just enough daylight left (YAY!! Spring IS coming!) so I hopped on bareback and did some lateral work at the walk. We didn't accomplish much, but it made Fleck and I so much happier! Seriously... He has been pouty the last few days and after the ride tonight, he was in MUCH better spirits. :)
Ahhhhhhhhhhh
Yep... that would be the moon. :)

My horse is so weird!!
So... good news... I'm officially certified via the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association in Animal Chiropractic! YAY!!!! And that means, no more Kansas trips (except for CE) and that means.... back to PONY TIME!!!!

I celebrated with a trial ride with Flecky. And then unfortunately the weather turned icey so I didn't get to ride yesterday or today. But at least Monday I got my ride in. Fleck was a total weirdo though.... We had a great time. I let him steer as usual and he was kind of being odd about this one section. It was beside Highway 138 along the creek, between the slippery rock crossing and the regular creek crossing. He kept wanting to go back that way. After the first part of our ride, we somehow ended up there again and he was adamant! He kept stopping, walking into the woods, turning around, and trotting off. It was like he was Lassie and trying to tell me something. I humored him and looked a good bit, but finally it freaked me out enough that I headed towards home. I asked Lucy to let me know if there was ever anything out there, but... Just weird.
But we had a good time. It felt so good to be back home. :)
I thought this was a neat design. Forest art :)

2013 Year End Awards!!!
Whooo hooo!!! Apparently Fleck and I WON preliminary recognized adult amateur CT and reserve champion in training level recognized adult amateur CT. So proud of the monkey.
I didn't get to make it to the Gala, but Peri grabbed my ribbons. Unfortunately they gave us the wrong one, so I'll have to wait to do the photo shoot. ;) But we won a saddle pad and a really pretty pewter picture frame. How cool is that?!?!
Danny... you've got some seriously big shoes to fill my friend!! :)
I'm such a proud Momma!!

Grid Day at WTF
We had another fun grid day at Wishing Tree Farm!! We worked on a quiet collected but bouncy and powerful canter again. And then on opening them up, but then getting that canter back again. Fleck was really good! Beth joked that she thought it would be harder for us and we were so good she had to think of harder things for us all.
I think my body is finally cooperating!!! My hands are starting to stay where they belong!! Now to work on strengthening my legs and core!

Trail Ride and fitness
Today was a fun day. I met up with Judy and her daughter and Kelli for a trail ride. We hacked a good ways and then finished in the field. Fleck and I did a 5 minute trot set and then 2 three minute canter sets. We finished with a little sprint, but Fleck never really opened up. Our top speed was only 21 mph. Drats!! ;) hee hee. I'm curious to see what he is when he kicks it up a notch. But next time. Today was more just fun hacking around.
Riding in the Snow!
Ha!!! I was successful today!!! It was warm enough during the day that I felt safe on the roads. There was only one slick/icy spot and that was in the shade. Luckily, we arrived at Ashland safe and sound. And we had a most lovely ride.
That was ice on the lake. It kept shifting and creaking and cracking and that was thoroughly intriguing to Fleck. :)
ahhhh..... I love this guy!
